Review : Tamrac’s MicroSync Digital Wireless Trigger System

The smallest, smartest, wireless radio sync system for remotely firing strobes, speedlights and most SLR cameras. The Microsync Digital has a unique automatic power management system. There are no on/off switches on the transmitter or the receiver. When you press the shutter, the transmitter turns itself on and sends the signal to the receiver to fire your lights. Both units then turn themselves off in milliseconds. The Microsync can also be used to remotely fire most SLR cameras that have an electronic cable release input. To do this, you will need a camera firing cord for your SLR. Microsync camera firing cords are available for most Canon, Nikon and Pentax digital and film cameras.

After going through two of the low priced wireless units, due to poor design or workmanship, I found the Microsync a welcomed solution in the studio here at Apertures. It’s unobtrusive size lets me concentrate on building my image. You put it in the hot shoe and it works exactly when you want it to, it’s great. Well built, consistent in use, less than half the price of Pocket Wizard and I’m still on my first set of batteries after a year. And it works with pack systems, mono lights, speedlights and a remote shutter release. Wow, A must have.
